1 - BCCI constituted 3-members in Cricket Advisory Committee
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the appointment of its Cricket Advisory Committee. The three-member committee comprises Mr Madan Lal, Mr Rudra Pratap Singh and Ms Sulakshana Naik. The term of appointment will be for one year.
The newly-formed CAC will succeed the trio of Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad, and Shanta Rangaswamy. The CAC will now be responsible to select the Indian selection committee, including the appointment of chief selector and another member in the selection committee.
2 - 15th Finance Commission forms panel on defence, internal security funding
The Fifteenth Finance Commission has constituted a five member group on Defence and Internal Security to examine if India needs a separate mechanism to fund defence and internal security. The panel will be headed by Chairman of the Commission N.K. Singh.
It will comprise of the following members:
AN Jha, Member of the 15th Finance Commission
Secretary of Ministry of Home Affairs
Secretary of Ministry of Defence Expenditure Secretary
The Finance Commission, in its report for 2020-21, had said there’s merit in ensuring a predictable and stable flow of funds for defence and internal security.
3 - Finance Commission constitutes High Level Expert Group on Agriculture Exports
The 15th Finance Commission (FFC) set up a high level expert group on farm exports, which will be headed by ITC Chairman and Managing Director Sanjiv Puri. It will recommend measurable performance incentives for States to encourage agri exports as well as to promote crops to enable high import substitution.
The Committee will also identify the impediments for private sector investments along the agricultural value chain and suggest policy measures and reforms that would help attract the required investments. It will submit its recommendations within three months for further consideration of the Commission.
4 - Assam Accord’s Clause 6 panel submits its report to CM Sarbanand Sonowal
The high level committee on the Clause Six of Assam Accord has submitted its report to Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal. The committee headed by Justice (retired) Biplab Kumar Sarma has recommended measures to protect the interest of the indigenous people of the state.
The Assam government will send the report to the Home Ministry for the follow up action. The Centre and the Assam government have already assured that steps would be taken to implement the Clause Six of the Assam Accord.
5 - SEBI formed Municipal bonds development committee
In order to make recommendations to SEBI on policy matters pertaining to development of municipal debt securities market, SEBI constituted a Municipal Bonds Development Committee headed by Sujit Prasad, Executive Director, SEBI and comprising of representatives from ministry, municipal corporation, lawyers, professionals and market practitioners as members.
Committee would be responsible to advise SEBI on issues related to regulation and on matters required to be taken up for changes in legal framework, on matters relating to regulation of intermediaries and recommend SEBI on measures to facilitate issuers.
