Why is an electric fuse required in all electrical appliances?
A fuse wire has high resistance and a low melting point. When a large current flows through the fuse, a lot of heat will be generated in it. Due to this high heat, the fuse wire melts.
As fuse wire melts, the connection is broken or we can say the circuit becomes open. As the circuit breaks, the current stops flowing and all the electrical appliances are protected from high current.
This way the fuse creates an open circuit, to protect electrical appliances from receiving too high a current.
