Using the number line write the integer which is :
(a) 3 more than 5
(b) 5 more than $–5$
(c) 6 less than 2
(d) 3 less than $–2$
To do :
We have to write the integer using the number line in each case.
Solution :
(a) Step 1: First mark 5.
Step 2: Move 3 steps to the right.
So, 3 more than 5 is 8.
(b) 5 more than $-5$
Step 1: First mark $-5$.
Step 2: Move 5 steps to the right.
So, 5 more than $-5$ is 0.
(c) 6 less than 2
Step 1: First mark 2.
Step 2: Move 6 steps to the left.
So, 6 less than 2 is $-4$.
(d) 3 less than $-2$
Step 1: First mark $-2$.
Step 2: Move 3 steps to the left.
