Split the following shapes into rectangles and find their areas. (The measures are given in centimetres)

We have to split the given shapes into rectangles and find their areas.
Solution:
(a) Area of the given figure $=$ Area of rectangle I $+$ Area of rectangle II
$=12\times2+8\times2$
$=24+16$
$=40\ cm^2$
(b) Area of the given figure $=$ Area of square I $+$ Area of square II $+$ Area of square III $+$ Area of square IV $+$ Area of square V
$=7^2+7^2+7^2+7^2+7^2$
$=5\times49$
$=245\ cm^2$
(c) Area of the given figure $=$ Area of rectangle I $+$ Area of rectangle II $+$ Area of rectangle III
$=2\times1+5\times1+2\times1$
$=2+5+2$
$=9\ cm^2$
