Ravi purchased 5 kg 400 g rice, 2 kg 20 g sugar and 10 kg 850 g flour. Find the total weight of his purchases.
Given:
Ravi purchased 5 kg 400 g rice, 2 kg 20 g sugar and 10 kg 850 g flour.
To do:
We have to find the total weight of his purchases.
Solution:
We know that,
$1\ kg=1000\ g$
Therefore,
Weight of rice purchased $= 5\ kg\ 400\ g$
$= (5 + \frac{400}{1000})\ kg$
$=(5+0.4)\ kg$
$= 5.4\ kg$
Weight of sugar purchased $= 2\ kg\ 20\ g$
$= (2 + \frac{20}{1000})\ kg$
$=(2+0.02)\ kg$
$= 2.02\ kg$
Weight of flour purchased $= 10\ kg\ 850\ g$
$= (10 + \frac{850}{1000})\ kg$
$= 10.85\ kg$
The total weight of his purchases is,
$5.400$
$+2.020$
$+ 10.850$
-------------
$18.270$
-------------
