You are given a mixture of salt and sand. Can you separate them by picking?
No, we cannot separate a mixture of salt and sand them by picking as they are too small in size to be separated by picking.
[Extra information: Handpicking is the simplest technique or method for separating unwanted substances or impurities by hand. It involves simply picking out one of the components from the mixture which is in a small quantity from others. This method is used when items differ from each other on the basis of color, shape, size and weight. It is a simple and easy method. This method doesn't need any machinery for separating impurities or unwanted substances, hence it is manual labor. It is a slow process and is prone to error when the mixture is small in size.
For example- small pieces of stones are separated from the wheat, rice, and pulses. (on the basis of shapes and size.)
- separating chilies from the basket of a lady's finger. (on the basis of size)
- separating lentils from the rice. (on the basis of color and shape)
