Write and explain two examples, where the expansion of solids is applied?

(i).Telephone line wires appear to be more sagging in summers than in winters as the wires expand between the poles.
(ii). The railway tracks are placed by leaving a small gap as in summer if the solids expand, the gap is filled otherwise the trains fall down.
