Write a positive and negative integer whose sum is $-$7.
Given: Sum of a positive and a negative integer is $-$7.
To find: Here we have to find a positive and a negative integer whose sum is $-$7.
Solution:
Let the positive integer be = a
Let the negative integer be = b
So, according to the problem:
a $+$ b = $-$7
So, in the above equation we can put value of either a or b to get the corresponding value of other integer:
Example:
Let positive integer (a) be = 3
So,
3 $+$ b = $-$7
b = $-$7 $-$ 3
b = $-$10
Therefore, 3 and $-$10 is a pair of positive and negative integer whose sum is $-$7.
We can get as many pairs as we want by just changing the values of a and b.
