Would the results of dry baking soda and solution of baking soda on dry litmus paper be same? Why?
The dry baking soda does not change the colour of dry litmus paper because in solid states ions are not free to move.
But a solution of baking soda in water leads to change in the colour of red litmus paper to blue because in water baking soda dissociates into ions and ions leads to change in the colour of litmus paper.
