Why use fraction?
Let us suppose your friend has an apple, but you do not have one. Now both you and your friend want to eat the apple, but you both have only one apple. How do you share the apple? You will simply cut the apple into two parts. Each part is called a fraction of apple.
If 1 apple is cut into 2 equal parts, each part is 1/2 apple.
If 1 apple is cut into 3 equal parts, each part is 1/3 apple.
These values 1/2, 1/3, 1/5 etc. are called fractions.
Fractions are very important not only in understanding Maths but also in daily life. If we don't understand how fractions work, it will be difficult to learn algebra later.
