Why days and nights are not of equal length?
Days and nights are caused by the rotation of the earth. If the earth's axis is not tilted and perpendicular to the plane of the orbit, the duration of both day and night would be equal(12 hours each). But the inclination of the earth's axis is tilted and hence the equator is not facing the sun directly, enabling different areas of the earth to experience different durations of days and nights.
