Why are the heating elements of electric toasters and electric irons made of an alloy rather than a pure metal?
The heating elements (coil) of electric toasters and electric irons are made of an alloy rather than a pure metal because:-
1. the resistivity of an alloy is much higher than the pure metals.
2. an alloy doesn't undergo oxidation or burn easily even at high temperatures (when it is red hot).
