Which of the two is more energy efficient: filament type electric bulb or CFL? Why?
A CFL (compact fluorescent lamp) is more energy-efficient than a filament type electric bulb. The reason behind this is, a CFL consumes much less electrical energy while a filament-type electric bulb wastes much energy as heat.
Explanation
A "Compact fluorescent lamp" (CFL) works on the principle of ionisation. Instead of a glowing filament, it contains argon and mercury vapour housed within a spiral-shaped tube. This, make it an energy-efficient device, as it consumes much less electrical energy.
