When is the work done by a force on a body: (a) positive, (b) negative, and (c) zero?


(a). When the direction of the acted force and the direction of the displacement in the body are the same, the work done is said to be positive.

(b). When the direction of the acted force and the direction of the displacement in the body are opposite, the work done is said to be negative.

(c). When the directions of the acted force and the displacement are perpendicular then the work done is said to be zero.
