What substances are contained in pancreatic juice? What are their functions?
Pancreatic juice contains digestive enzymes.
These are Pancreatic Amylase, trypsin, and lipase.
Their functions are given below:
(a) Pancreatic amylase breaks down the starch into maltose. This helps in the breakdown of polysaccharide into glucose, maltose, and other simpler products.
(b) Trypsin digests the proteins. In the small intestine, the enzyme breaks down into proteins and continues the process of digestion that began in the stomach.
(c) Lipase breaks down the emulsified fats like butterfat in the food.
