What is the probability of getting a 2 digit number in chits numbered from 1 to 100?
Given:
Chits numbered from 1 to 100.
To do:
We have to find the probability of getting a 2 digit number.
Solution:
Chits numbered from 1 to 100.
This implies,
The total number of possible outcomes $n=100$.
Two digit numbers from 1 to 100 are $10, 11, .........., 98, 99$.
Total number of favourable outcomes $=90$.
We know that,
Probability of an event $=\frac{Number\ of\ favourable\ outcomes}{Total\ number\ of\ possible\ outcomes}$
Therefore,
Probability that the chit bears a two digit number $=\frac{90}{100}$
$=\frac{9}{10}$
The probability of getting a 2 digit number in chits numbered from 1 to 100 is $\frac{9}{10}$.
