What is the percentage change in the rent of the house if in the month of January it was Rs. 10,000 and in the month of March it is Rs. 15,000?

Given:

Rent of the house in the month of January $=Rs.\ 10,000$.

Rent of the house in the month of March $=Rs.\ 15,000$.
To do:

We have to find the percentage change in the rent of the house.

Solution:

We know that,

Percentage change$=\frac{Increase/decrease\ in\ value}{Original\ value}\times100$

We can clearly see that there is an increase in the amount of rent.

Increase in the rent $=Rs.\ (15000-10000)=Rs.\ 5000$.

Here, original value$=$ Rent of the house in the month of January $=Rs.\ 10,000$.

Percentage change in the rent $=\frac{5000}{10000}\times100$

$=50 \%$

Therefore, there is a 50% increase in the rent of the house.
