What is the meaning of buoyancy?

Buoyancy is the tendency of a body to float or to rise when submerged in a fluid.

The roots and shoots of several aquatic plants float on the surface of the water. It is because of the air-filled tissues in various parts of the plant, which provide the buoyancy, and allows them to float.
