What is the filtering unit of kidney? Why is it called so?
The nephron is the filtering unit of the kidney.
The nephron is called so because it removes harmful wastes from the blood, such as urea, uric acids, and excess of water. These wastes get filtered from the blood and excreted out as urine and useful products are reabsorbed by the tubular part of the nephron.
