What is proportional?

Proportional means corresponding in size or amount to something else.

If two amounts are proportional, it means they change at the same rate so that the relationship between them does not change. It is denoted by the symbol $\propto$.

For example: Force is directly proportional to mass, which means if force increase, mass also increases and vice-versa. $(F\propto m)$
