What is phlegm?


Phlegm is mucus produced by our respiratory system, but it is different from the mucus produced by the nasal passages. It is respiratory mucus which is expelled during coughing. Phlegm is water-based gel consisting of glycoproteins, immunoglobulins, lipids and other substances.
