What is Pain?
Pain is an unpleasant or uncomfortable sensation such as a prick, tingle, sting, burn, or ache, which signals our nervous system that something is wrong with the body. Pain may be sharp like debilitating back pain or dull like a mild headache.
It can also cause emotional effects like anger, depression, mood swings or irritability.
Pain is classified as:-
1. Acute pain- It is generally intense and short-lived, and last for fewer than six months and goes away once the underlying cause is treated. It is caused by surgery, broken bones, burns or cuts, etc.
2. Chronic pain- It can range from mild to severe, and lasts far longer than acute pain, even after the original injury has healed. It is caused by headache, arthritis, cancer, nerve pain, etc.
