What is implantation?

After egg fertilized with sperm, the zygote undergo a series of cell division. About seven days after fertilization the blastocyst clings to the walls of the uterus. This stage in which embryo adheres to the wall of the uterus is known as implantation.

Through implantation, the foetus receives oxygen and nutrients from the mother for growth.

Thus the initial stage of pregnancy in humans is known as implantation.
