What is direct proportion and inverse proportion ?
Suppose you increase the number of books in your bag. What will happen to its weight? It will also increase.
This is direct proportionality.
Two quantities x and y are said to be in direct proportion if they increase or decrease together in such a manner that the ratio of their corresponding values remains constant. That is, if x/y=k [k is a positive number], then x and y are said to vary directly.
If number of workers increase, work will be finished in less time, so it is inverse proportion. (More = > Less)
Inverse proportion occurs when one value increases and the other decreases.
If x.y=k then x and y are said to vary inversely.
