What is chromatography? State it's two applications.
Chromatography is a laboratory technique for the separation of a mixture.
In this method, the mixture is dissolved in a fluid called the mobile phase, which carries it through a structure holding another material called the stationary phase. The stationary phase acts as a constraint on many of the components in a mixture, slowing them down
to move slower than the mobile phase.
The various constituents of the mixture travel at different speeds, causing them to separate.
Two applications of chromatography are as follows:-
1. It is used in DNA fingerprinting and bioinformatics.
2. It is used for the separation of different colors of ink.
