What happens if the egg is not Fertilised ?
Every month, a female releases one egg into the fallopian tube. The fallopian tube has hair-like projections or cilia. If the egg is not fertilized by a sperm, the cilia push the ovum towards the uterus. After about two weeks, the egg is shredded along with the uterus lining and is released through the vagina. This is menstruation and is a part of the menstrual cycle in females.
