What does displacement reactionsmean?
Displacement reaction is a chemical reaction in which a more reactive element displaces a less reactive element from its compound.
Both metals and nonmetals take part in displacement reactions.
It can be represented generically as A + B - C → A - C + B.
This will most often occur if A is more reactive than B, thus giving a more stable product.
Examples include: Reaction of iron nails with copper sulphate solution. Fe+ CuSO4 --> Cu + FeSO4
Cu (s) + 2AgNO3 (aq) ---> Cu(NO3)2 (aq) + 2Ag (s)
