What are proteins?
Proteins are known as building blocks of our body because they are important for the growth and development of an individual. Proteins form 60% of the dry weight of cells, they are abundantly present in our body.
Proteins make enzymes, hormones, regulatory and structural parts of the body. Food such as eggs, pulses, milk, and milk products are the source of protein. The diseases caused by the deficiency of proteins are Kwashiorkor and Marasmus.
