What are diagonals and adjacent Lines ?
Diagonal:

Diagonal is a line segment which connects the opposite corners of a polygon through its vertex.
For example, ABCD is a square and AC is the diagonal of this square because it connects opposite vertex A and C.

Adjacent lines:
The sides which are by the side of each other are called Adjacent sides. They also meet at a common point called a vertex
In the above polygon, AB and BC are adjacent because they both meet at B
