Using the graph, find the cyclist speed between:
i. $10\ s$ and $30\ s$: ________
ii. $30\ s$ and $40\ s$:________
iii. The speed from start to finish:_______
"

i. To calculate the speed between $10\ s$ to $30\ s$, We will have to know the distance and time from the given graph.

Here time taken between $10\ s$ to $30\ s$ will be $t=30\ s-10\ s=20\ s$

Distance covered between $10\ s$ to $30\ s$ will be $d=90\ m-20\ m=70\ m$

Therefore, speed between $10\ s$ to $30\ s$ will be $v=\frac{distance}{time}$

$=\frac{70\ m}{20\ s}$

$=3.5\ m/s$

ii.Speed between $30\ s$ to $40\ s$:

Here time interval $t=40\ s-30\ s=10\ s$

Distance covered between $30\ s$ to $40\ s$ will be $d=90\ m-90\ m=0$   [as there is no change in distance]

Therefore, speed $=\frac{distance}{time}$

$=\frac{0}{10\ s}$

$=0$

So, between the $30\ s$ to $40\ s$ the cyclist was at rest.

iii. To find the cyclist's speed from start to finish, we will have to calculate the total distance covered and the total time taken.

Here, total distance covered $=120\ m-20\ m=100\ m$

Total time taken  $t=50\ s-10\ s=40\ s$

Therefore, total speed from start to finish $=\frac{total\ distance}{total\ time}$

$=\frac{100\ m}{40\ s}$

$=2.5\ m/s$
