Under the influence of what does the Bob of a simple pendulum swing?
The bob of simple pendulum needs a small push to start swinging. Once the external force in the form of a small push is given, the pendulum will continuously swing to and fro.
While swinging, gravity pulls the bob to the mean position(middle position). When it reaches the middle position, due to inertia of motion it will again move to an extreme position. This will happen continuously and the bob of the pendulum keeps oscillating to and fro.
So, we can say the pendulum oscillates under the influence of gravity. Although initially we have to provide some energy to start motion
