The sum of two rational number is $-5$, if one of them is $\frac{13}{6}$ then find the other number.
Given :
The sum of two rational numbers $= -5$.
One of the numbers is $\frac{13}{6}$.
To do :
WE have to find the other number.
Solution :
Let the other number be x.
Therefore,
$x+\frac{13}{6} = -5$
$x = -5-(\frac{13}{6})$
$x = -(5 + \frac{13}{6})$
$x = -(\frac{(5\times 6+13)}{6})$
$x=-(\frac{(30+13)}{6})$
$x=-\frac{43}{6}$.
The other rational number is $-\frac{43}{6}$.
