The relative density of aluminium is 2.7. What is the density of aluminium in CGS and SI units?


Given: relative density of aluminium is 2.7

To find: density of aluminium 

Solution:

$Relative \ density = \frac{\text{Density of substance}}{\text{Density of water}}$

So we get,
$\text{Density of substance}= Relative \ density \times \text{Density of water}$

In SI units:
Density of water = 1000 $kg/m^3$
Density of Aluminium = $2.7 \times 1000$ $kg/m^3$ = 2700 $kg/m^3$

In CGS units:
Density of water = 1 $g/cm^3$
Density of Aluminium = $2.7 \times 1$ $g/cm^3$ = 2.7 $g/cm^3$
