The perimeter of an isosceles triangle is 50 cm. If one of the two equal sides is 18 cm, find the third side.
Given :
The perimeter of an isosceles triangle $=50 cm$.
The length of each equal side $= 18 cm$.
To find :
We have to find the length of the third side.
Solution :
Let the length of the third side be $x$.
The perimeter of a triangle is the sum of all the sides of the triangle.
Therefore,
Perimeter$= 18+18+x$
$\Rightarrow x+36=50$
$\Rightarrow x=50-36$
$\Rightarrow x=14\ cm$
Therefore, the length of the third side is $14\ cm$.
