Given:

The distance (in \( \mathrm{km} \) ) of 40 engineers from their residence to their place of work

To do:

We have to construct a grouped frequency distribution table with class size 5 for the data given above taking the first interval as \( 0-5 \) ( 5 not included).

Solution:

The given data is large, so for convenience we construct a grouped frequency distribution table of class size 5.

This implies,

The class intervals are 0-5, 5-10, 10-15, 15-20 and so on.

The data is represented in the grouped frequency distribution table as follows:

Distance (in km)Tally marksFrequency
0-5
5
5-10
11
10-15
11
15-20
9
20-25|1
25-30|1
30-35||2
Total
40

From the above table, we can observe that the classes do not overlap.

Also, the houses of 36 out of 40 engineers are at a distance of less than 20 km.
