The daily income of a sample of 50 employees are tabulated as follows:
Income (in Rs): | 1-200 | 201-400 | 401-600 | 601-800 |
No. of employees: | 14 | 15 | 14 | 7 |
Given:
The daily income of a sample of 50 employees.
To do:
We have to find the mean daily income of employees.
Solution:
The given data is not continuous, so subtract 0.5 from the lower limit and add 0.5 in the upper limit of each class.
Let the assumed mean be $A=300.5$.
Class size $h=200$
We know that,
Mean $=A+h \times \frac{\sum{f_iu_i}}{\sum{f_i}}$
Therefore,
Mean $=300.5+200\times(\frac{14}{50})$
$=300.5+4\times14$
$=300.5+56$
$=356.5$
The mean daily income of employees is Rs. 356.50.
