The curved surface area of a right circular cylinder of height $14\ cm$ is $88\ cm^2$. Find the diameter of the base of the cylinder.
Given :
The curved surface area of a right circular cylinder of height $14\ cm$ is $88\ cm^2$.
To find:
we have to find the diameter of the base of the cylinder.
Solution:
Let the radius of the base of the cylinder be 'r' cm.
The curved surface area of a cylinder of radius r and height $h = 2\pi rh$
Therefore,
$2\pi rh= 2 \times \frac{22}{7} \times r \times 14$
$88 = 88r$
$r=\frac{88}{88}\ m$
$r=1\ m$
Diameter$=2r=2(1)\ m=2\ m$
The diameter of the base of the cylinder is $2\ m$.
