Sunil's father is 3 times as old as Sunil. After 10 years his age will be twice the age of his son. Find their present ages.
Given :
Age of Sunil's father is 3 times the age of Sunil.
After 10 years his age will be twice the age of Sunil.
To find :
We have to find their present ages.
Solution :
Let the present age of Sunil be $x$.
The age of Sunil's father = $3x$
Age of Sunil after 10 years $= x+10$
Age of Sunil's father after 10 years $= 3x+10$
Therefore,
$3x+10 = 2(x+10)$
$3x+10 = 2x+20$
$3x-2x = 20-10$
$x = 10$
The present age of Sunil is 10 years.
The present age of Sunil's father is 3(10) = 30 years.
