Sum of two numbers is 95. If one exceeds the other number by 37. Find the numbers.
â€Å
Given: Sum of two numbers is 95 and one exceeds the other number by 37.
To find: We have to find the numbers.
Solution:
Let the smaller number be = a
So, the greater number be = a $+$ 37
Now, given that:
Sum of these two numbers = 95
(a) $+$ $( a\ +\ 37)$ = 95
2a $+$ 37 = 95
2a = 95 $-$ 37
2a = 58
a = $\frac{58}{2}$
a = 29
Therefore,
The smaller number = a = 29
The greater number = a $+$ 37 = 29 $+$ 37 = 66
So, the two numbers are 29 and 66.
