Sum of two numbers is 95. If one exceeds the other by 15, find the numbers.
Given:
The sum of two numbers is 95 and one number exceeds the other by 15.
To do:
We have to find the numbers.
Solution:
Let the two numbers be $x, x+15$
Therefore,
$x + (x+ 15) = 95$
$2x + 15 = 95$
$2x = 95-15$
$2x=80$
$x=\frac{80}{2}$
$x = 40$
$\Rightarrow x+15=40+15=55\$
Therefore, the two numbers are $40$ and $55$.
