Suggest two basis on which we can group objects.
The objects can be grouped on the basis of:
(i) Material used in making the object, e.g. wood or metal/plastic.
(ii) The material of the object is soft or hard, or the substance is soluble or insoluble in water.
[Extra information:
Grouping objects together with similar properties is called sorting. The materials can be grouped on the basis of similarities or differences in their properties.
Rose, Jasmine, Marigold, and Lotus are flowers, and hence, can be grouped together.
Classification of objects makes it easier to locate and identify members with them. By just identifying one member of the group, we can get an idea of the properties of the other members of the group.
Advantage: We sort objects into groups because it makes it convenient to study their properties and also observe any patterns in these properties. The objects that are grouped are easy to handle. It saves us time, effort, energy, and labor.]
