Sudha planted tomatoes in $\frac{1}{2}$ of her kitchen garden. She planted spinach in one-fourth of the remaining portion. Find the fraction of the garden which has spinach.
Given :
Garden planted by tomatoes $= \frac{1}{2}$
$\frac{1}{4}$ of the remaining is planted by spinach.
To do :
We have to find the portion of the garden planted with spinach.
Solution :
The portion of the garden planted by tomatoes $= \frac{1}{2}$.
Remaining portion $=1- \frac{1}{2} = \frac{1}{2}$
Portion of garden planted by spinach $= \frac{1}{4} \times \frac{1}{2}$
$ = \frac{1}{8}$
Therefore, the Portion of the garden planted by spinach is $\frac{1}{8}$.
