Solve the following :$13(y–4)–3(y–9)=5(y+4)$
Given :
The given expression is $13(y–4)–3(y–9)=5(y+4)$
To find :
We have to find the value of y.
Solution :
$13(y–4) = 13 y - 52$ Multiply 13 inside the brackets,
$–3(y–9) = -3 y + 27$ Multiply $-3$ inside the brackets,
$5(y+4) = 5 y + 20$ Multiply 5 inside the brackets,
$13 y - 52 -3 y + 27 = 5 y + 20$
$13 y - 3 y - 5 y = 20 + 52 - 27$ Keep variables on side, and numbers on the other side,
$13 y - 8 y = 20 + 25$
$ 5 y = 45$
$ y = \frac{45}{5}$
$ y = 9$
The value of y is 9.
