Sahil plant 4 saplings, in a row, in her garden. The distance between two adjacent saplings is $\frac{3}{4}$ m. Find the distance between the first and the last sapling.
Given:
Sahil plants 4 saplings, in a row, in her garden. The distance between two adjacent saplings is $\frac{3}{4}$ m.
To do: We have to find the distance between the first and the last sapling.
Solution:
The distance between two adjacent saplings $=\frac{3}{4}$ m.
The distance between the first and second sapling $=\frac{3}{4}$ m.
Similarly,
The distance between the second and third sapling $=\frac{3}{4}$ m.
The distance between the third and fourth sapling $=\frac{3}{4}$ m.
Therefore,
The distance between the first and fourth sapling $=\frac{3}{4}+\frac{3}{4}+\frac{3}{4}$ m.
$=\frac{3+3+3}{4}$ m.
$=\frac{9}{4}$ m.
The distance between the first and fourth sapling is $\frac{9}{4}$ m.
