Prove: Distance $\geq $ Displacement.
Distance is the length between two points. It is always a positive quantity. It is the total length traveled. For example, in the following figure if a person traveled from A to C through B then the total distance traveled by the person is 3 + 4 = 7 units
Displacement is the smallest distance between two points. For example, in the following figure if a person traveled from A to C through B then the displacement is the length between A and C(smallest length), which is 5 units.
In the above example, distance is greater than displacement.
For example, if the same person traveled to C directly from A, then the distance is nothing but 5 and similarly, displacement is also 5. Here distance is equal to displacement.
From this, we can conclude that distance >= displacement.
