In a CBSE examination, 10 students scored the following marks in Mathematics and Science. Calculate the range in each case.
"
Given: In a CBSE examination, 10 students scored the following marks in Mathematics and Science are given.
To do: To calculate the range in each case.
Solution:
In Mathematics Case:-
$78,\ 65,\ 92,\ 45,\ 69,\ 98,\ 57,\ 83,\ 90,\ 55$
On arranging in ascending order:
$45,\ 55,\ 57,\ 65,\ 69,\ 78,\ 83,\ 90,\ 92,\ 98$
Here, Minimum limit$=45$
Maximum limit$=98$
Range$=$Maximum limit$-$Minimum limit
$=98-45$
$=53$.
In science Case:
$81,\ 62,\ 82,\ 52,\ 40,\ 92,\ 60,\ 78,\ 77,\ 81$
On arranging in ascending order:
$40,\ 52,\ 60,\ 62,\ 77,\ 78,\ 81,\ 81,\ 82,\ 92$
Minimum limit$=40$
Maximum limit$=92$
Range $=$ Maximum $-$ Minimum
$=92-40$
$=52$
