As active citizens, we should take care of our personal environmental sanitation.

• We should make people aware of the benefits of sanitation.
• We should also help municipal corporations to cover all the open drains and remove disease-causing substances thrown in open. 
• We should ensure that the surroundings (both inside and outside the home) are clean.
• We should ensure that the sewerage system in our house is properly managed.
• In case of leakage or other problem in the sewerage system, we should report it to the municipality.
• We should learn about recycling and separate trash as recycled waste and non-recycled.
• We should not throw chemicals and fats and oils down the drain. This may cause choking of the drain.
• We should inculcate proper behaviour in our family and neighbors. We should teach them the 4R's - recycle, reuse, reduce and refuse.
