One litre of water is evaporated from $6$ litres of a solution containing $5$ % salt. Find the percentage of salt in the remaining solution.
Given: One litre of water is evaporated from $6$ litres of a solution containing $5$ % salt.
To do: To find the percentage of salt in the remaining solution.
Solution:
Measure of the solution$=6\ litres$
After one litre evaporation, new solution$=6-1=5\ litres$
Salt in $6\ litres=5$ % of $6\ litre =( \frac{5}{100}\times6)=0.30\ litre$
Salt in new solution $(5\ litres)=\frac{salt\ in\ solution }{mesurment\ of\ new\ solution}\times100=\frac{0.30}{5}\times100=6$ %
Thus, percentage of salt in new solution is $6$ %.
