Most of the fuels contain carbon as one of the constituents. Name a fuel which has very high calorific value but does not contain carbon.
Hydrogen gas has a very high calorific value (150 kJ/g) but does not contain carbon.
Extra information for reference only
Hydrogen has the highest calorific value of 150kJ/g among all the fuel because it is highly combustible and reacts explosively when comes in contact with air. Due to this reason, it is considered to be an extremely good fuel.
However, it is not used as a fuel in homes and industries because-
1. It is highly combustible and burns with an explosion when lighted.
2. It is very difficult to store and transport hydrogen from one place to another.
3. It is an expensive fuel, as its production cost is very high.
