Malati withdrew $\frac{2}{9}$ of the amount in her bank account on Wednesday, $\frac{2}{5}$ of the amount on Thursday and $\frac{1}{11}$ of the amount on Saturday. If she now has Rs. 35,500 left in her account, find the total amount in her account in the beginning?
Given:
Malati withdrew $\frac{2}{9}$ of the amount in her bank account on Wednesday, $\frac{2}{5}$ of the amount on Thursday and $\frac{1}{11}$ of the amount on Saturday.
She now has Rs. 35,500 left in her account.
To do:
We have to find the total amount in her account in the beginning.
Solution:
Let the total amount in her account, in the beginning, be $Rs.\ x$.
Malati withdrew $\frac{2}{9}$ of the amount in her bank account on Wednesday.
This implies,
According to the question,
$\frac{2}{9}x+\frac{2}{5}x+\frac{1}{11}x+35500=x$
$\frac{2(55)+2(99)+1(45)}{495}x+35500=x$
$x-\frac{110+198+45}{495}x=35500$
$x-\frac{353}{495}x=35500$
$\frac{495-353}{495}x=35500$
$\frac{142}{495}x=35500$
$x=\frac{35500\times495}{142}$
$x=Rs.\ 123750$
The total amount in her account in the beginning is Rs. 123750.
